The preferred ways to add Google Analytics to your Shorthand stories are:
Contact our team to install your Tag Manager, such as Google Tag Manager, across all of your Shorthand stories via your custom branded theme, and then manage your Google Analytics deployment through this tag manager.
Some Shorthand plans enable adding GTM on a per-story or per-project basis.
Instructions for installing Google Analytics with Google Tag Manager can be found here for Google Analytics 4.Contact our team to install your Google Analytics code snippet directly into your custom branded theme, which will ensure that the tracking code is included in all published stories.
The advantage of the first method is that you can make changes to your installation at any time — plus add additional trackers, conversion events, marketing pixels, and cookie consent managers — without the involvement of our team.
Both of the above installation methods are available only on some plans. Your custom branded theme will be hand-built for you by our design team, and you can contact [email protected] at any time to discuss your needs.
If you are not currently on one of these plans, or wish to add Google Analytics to just a single story, you can integrate Google Analytics on a story-by-story basis via 'Settings' in the story editor. Simply insert the tracking ID in the field provided.
Alternatively, for a multi-story project, you can add Google Analytics to all stories in the project through the project settings.
To locate your Google Analytics Measurement ID or Tracking ID for pasting into the story or project settings, log into your Google Analytics account and find the relevant web property you wish to track in the Admin area.
For Google Analytics 4, your Measurement ID can be found under 'Data Streams' > 'Web'. It should begin with 'G-', followed by a string of numbers and letters.
