Please note: Projects can be published via Shorthand hosting, to a custom subdomain, to an S3 bucket or via ZIP download (depending on subscription plan) only.
API/Wordpress/Drupal publishing are not currently available.
You can see which publishing options are available in the "Publishing" tab for your project:
This will give you an overview of all the publishing options you currently have available in your team.
If you already have publishing enabled via Shorthand hosting, a custom subdomain, S3 or via ZIP download, then these will already be selected - you can start publishing right away!
If you usually publish using the Shorthand Story Embed code you will see a small alert as below:
If you are publishing via API/Wordpress/Drupal then that option will be shown as below:
Publishing a project
Please note: Publishing a project will publish all stories in the project, regardless of their current status, so any story marked as "Draft", "Published" or "Unpublished changes" will be published.
Like with Shorthand stories, when you are ready to publish your project just press the blue “Publish” or “Publishing“ button in the top right of the editor:
This will open the publishing panel where you can set the final, base URL of your project:
If you're downloading a zip of the project for hosting elsewhere, there is a URL field above the project download button where you will need to enter the URL of the base location that the project is being hosted from. Without this URL, we're unable to set important URL data to the project files that ensures functionality of things like project navigation and social sharing links. This URL will need to be added prior to downloading, each time that you download the project.
Project changes and republishing
When you or a collaborator add stories or make changes to a project, you will need to re-publish the project for the changes to be reflected on your live project. Stories that have no changes will not be re-published — re-publish will only publish the changes.
