If you need to make changes to a published story, whether it's a simple change to text, or a bigger change involving new sections and media, you can do so within the Shorthand editor and then you'll need to republish the story to incorporate the changes into the published story.
Here are a some tips on republishing for different publishing methods:
Shorthand Hosting | Simply click republish to push the changes live to the URL. |
.Zip exports | Re-generate the .Zip files, download and re-upload to your servers as before. |
1-click self-hosting e.g. Amazon S3, Azure Blog Storage, SFTP | Simply click republish in the Shorthand editor to push the changes live. |
Drupal or Wordpress plugins | As the story is already connected to the plugin, simply go back into your CMS and republish via your CMS workflow to make the changes live. |
Caching
If you republish a story and you don't see the updates on the published page, the issue could be that the page is being cached. You can try a hard-refresh of the page in your browser (e.g. shortcut in Chrome is Command/Control + Shift + R), or clear your browser cache from the browser settings, or you can also test it by viewing the page in an incognito/private browser window or in a different browser where you haven't previously viewed the page. If clearing the browser cache doesn't help and you're self-hosting a story or embedding a Shorthand-hosted story into a page on your website, you may need to clear the cache for your site.
Publishing Credits
If your plan uses publishing credits, republishing a story will not deduct any additional credits.
