Undo Redo

Undo and Redo enables you to reverse your action(s) within the editor, giving you more freedom and control when crafting your stories.

How to Undo and Redo

When editing a story, you can simply click the Undo button at the top of the page to undo any action or edit you’ve made to your story. Similarly, Redo enables you to reverse your Undo action(s).

You can also use these standard keyboard shortcuts:

  • Undo: Command + Z (Mac), Control + Z (Windows)

  • Redo: Command + Shift + Z (Mac), Control + Y (Windows)

You can Undo any number of actions, however it is limited to actions you personally make within a session. I.e. you cannot Undo actions you’ve made in a previous session, or any actions made by collaborators.

Your session ends when you leave the story you’re working on, close the window, refresh (reload) the browser, or logout.

Actions you CAN Undo

You can undo or redo any actions you personally make in the editor in a single session, including (but not limited to):

  • Text and images

  • Adding or deleting sections

  • Changing section settings

  • Moving elements or sections

  • Some story theme actions and settings

Actions you can NOT Undo

  • Any actions from past sessions or other collaborators

  • Workspace or dashboard changes

  • Copying section to—or deleting sections from—your “Copied sections”

  • Tagging

  • Some story theme actions and settings

  • Publishing-related changes (e.g. Publish Url, Publish At, preview username/password, Override Asset URL, Override Social cover, Slug (BBC only IIUC))

Note: It can sometimes be difficult to see what has changed as a result of an undo or redo action. We suggest checking your story carefully before publishing.
