Inline chart

Add a line, bar, pie, or doughnut chart within a text column.

To add data for a chart, a .csv file is required. These are typically exported from spreadsheet programs such as Excel or Google Sheets. Download or export your data as a .csv file to your computer:

To insert a chart into a text column, click the three-dot "INSERT" button that appears between text blocks. A panel will open, from which you can choose various items to add. Choose "Insert chart"

A sample placeholder chart will be added to the story:

To edit the chart (or replace it with a totally new chart), click the button in its top-left corner:

A panel will open, in which the data can be edited and/or replaced. To replace the data with your own, click the top-left button to Import CSV / Replace data and choose the .csv file from your computer.

When the default data is replaced by your imported .csv file, the panel will update to show a new data table, and a new chart preview on the right based on the data in the table:

Cog buttons at the top of each column in the data table allow for changing the data format, including the chart type (line, bar, pie, doughnut), the basic chart colour, number formats, and more.

Input boxes and buttons under the chart preview enable adding axis labels and scales, colouring them, and setting their minimum, maximum, and step values.

Changing the chart type by clicking the cog at the top of the data column, choosing 'Chart type' and 'Doughnut'.

For doughnut and pie charts, you'll need to apply different colours to the data so that segments in the chart are easily discernable. To do so, click on an individual number in the column and choose from options to change colour, the value itself, the segment visibility, a label, and its position:

These options can be changed in all chart types. Icons in the data table indicate the changes that have been applied to the chart, with colour chips indicating the colours applied, tag icons showing if labels are applied, etc:

After updating the chart, click the close ( X ) button in the top right to close the panel and view the chart within the story.
