The media library, available in the editor when adding or changing images, enables you to see and reuse images from your stories and access thousands of free images from Unsplash.
To open the media library, click on one of the 'edit media' buttons visible when hovering over any image in your story:
This will open the media panel directly, or for sections that support multiple images will open a panel from which to select an individual image or upload more.
Hovering over any image in the media panel, will show buttons to upload new media, or access the media library:
Clicking the MEDIA LIBRARY button opens the library. There are two tabs at the top of the library for switching between your own images and those from Unsplash:
See here for more information about using images from Unsplash.
Re-use your images
To re-use images from the story you are currently working on (to for instance re-use the image from the title section in a Text-Over-Media section at the bottom of your story), open the media library and by default you will see all the images from the current story. Simply select one of the images and it will be re-used in this location in your story.
To re-use an image from one of your other Shorthand stories, choose "IMAGES IN Another Story" from the drop-down menu:
You'll be shown a list of the other stories in your workspace from which to select an image. Select one of the stories, and you'll be shown all the media available to add to your current story.
Above the images are options for filtering and sorting the results to display, for instance, only portrait-orientation images or those uploaded by a specific team member.
Captions and alt-text
Captions and alt-text applied to the image previously will be also be copied to the new location in your story, though these can easily be changed or deleted in the media modal if appropriate. Any edits you make to the captions or alt text will only appear in this new use of the image and will not change them in any prior use.
Media library management
The media library shows images (other than fallback images for videos, or video itself) for each of the stories to which you have access in your workspace. As a result, images cannot be removed or deleted from the library directly, and instead would need to be removed from any of the stories which use them.
